Hey everyone! It has been a while since I’ve posted on the blog and I’d like to start by apologizing. I became unexpectedly busy for the last two months of the year and there was a lot for me to get done.
But now it’s January 2018, a time for people to reflect and make plans for themselves over the next year. As someone who always seeks ways of self-improvement, I find New Years Resolutions to be an exciting time because I make goals in alignment with who I want to become by the end of the year.
Whilst I’m thrilled to finally have 2018 here, I first want to take the opportunity to reflect upon 2017 because it was one of the most challenging years of my life. Read More
After posting the question in one of my Instagram stories, you decided that you'd love to see a post explaining NaNoWriMo with some of the basics of it! I've had so much fun participating in NaNoWriMo since 2013 and it's definitely been one of the most productive times of the year in terms of writing.
NaNoWriMo or (Na)tional (No)vel (Wri)ting (Mo)nth is a 30-day challenge where participants aim to write 50,000 words in the month of November. Statistically, that's 1,667 words a day! If you're under the age of 13, you can also join the Young People's NaNoWriMo where you can set your own word count! On the other hand, Camp NaNoWriMo is where you can set your own word counts, but this is during the months of April and July. For this post, we'll be focusing a bit more on November's NaNoWriMo. As writers, creativity is our natural fuel in which we use to craft our stories and characters. The worlds we create with our minds are so extended and full of imagination, it takes a lot to come up with them.
Hence, this well can run dry and we encounter something called Writer's Block or a Creativity Block. We can sometimes work our way through it but other times, we stress ourselves to no end coming up with a solution for our stories.
However, we're putting so much care into our stories, we've forgotten to care for ourselves. Read More
When you have a story you don't want to let go of, it's quite hard to say goodbye to it. This is exactly the impression Heart of Mist had on me.
A world surrounded by a deadly mist which leaves everyone at risk, but the true enemy might be within their boundaries? One world which contains badass female warriors that have a strict system of combat and power? The world where everything is never perfect and each character deals with their own struggles, no matter their age? COUNT ME IN.
I love the journey we took with Bleak and how much she changed throughout the novel and how prevalent the change is. The other point of views (yep, there are multiple and they were all brilliant) all took their own personal journies as well and my favorite perspective was Dash. I have such a theory surrounding Dash and it's making me excited and giddy and I hope it's right. I WILL BE SO SHOCKED IF IT IS RIGHT. Read More
Beautiful People is a writing blog meme hosted by Cait @ Paper Fury and Sky @ Further Up and Further. They post questions at the beginning of the month to do with characters in everyone's current WIP. This month's questions are about characters this time and you'll be hearing from the three main characters in A Mirror of Smoke. Each of them are like my brain children (well they did spawn from my mind) and I can't wait to share their stories with you. Read More
This month was a bit of a busy one which was to be expected. From participating in Camp NaNoWriMo all the way to the last minute decision to join in BookTube-A-Thon, I had a pretty busy month.
It's definitely taught me a lot about time management and how I can better schedule myself in the further months to come. I did make an improvement to the amount I read, from one to two! I've almost finished Crooked Kingdom so I could include it in this but I won't. I do slightly blame my low read count due to Camp since it was my main priority this month. But now that it's August, my main focus is reading (and finishing this first draft).
